History

John O. Green Memorial Park was named after a police chief in West Chester who unexpectedly passed
away. The borough purchased the land for $1 from the S.A. Philadelphia Electric Company on May 8, 1998. The land is approximately 23,400 square feet. When the land was purchased, it was classified as a brown field, that is, one in which pollution and toxins have entered the ground. The borough had the land cleaned, and made free of toxins so local children could play at the park. This is the newest park in the borough and has the most modern equipment of all the parks.
