With the success of last year’s Gay Street Closure, the Borough Manager’s office and the West Chester Business Improvement District, are pleased to announce Borough Council has approved an application to PennDOT to close four blocks of Gay Street from May 1, 2021 to August 29, 2021, allowing our businesses to operate in the public right of way. The Borough Council will consider extensions beyond the August 29, 2021 end-date and will discuss further extensions at upcoming Borough Council meetings.
This event is very similar to last year’s event. It is our hope this closure will encourage visitors and residents to enjoy our charming town, while supporting our vibrant and unique downtown in a safe and welcoming atmosphere.
The closure will comply with all applicable Pennsylvania Orders regarding COVID-19 and all applicable COVID-19 safety mitigation guidance including, but not limited to, guidance from the Pennsylvania Department of Health and the Centers for Disease Control.
We hope to see all of you there and welcome you to our town!
