As part of our ongoing efforts to provide improved fire protection services within the West Chester Fire District, we have adopted the WCFD Rapid Access System for properties with automatic fire alarm systems.

Benefits of this voluntary program include:

• Quicker access to premises by fire department personnel

• Reduction in forcible entry property damage when key holder not available

• Reduction in late night owner notifications for alarm system resets.

The program that we have implemented uses secure Knox Box Rapid Entry key boxes. Inside the key box, you keep access cards, access codes and keys necessary to access your property and the alarm system for the building. The Knox Box can only be opened by authorized fire department personnel for the purpose of investigating fire alarms and to reset the system as needed.

The WCFD recommends Knox Box #3261 (hinged, surface mount) for most commercial building applications. Tamper switch option is recommended for banks, financial institutions, and jewelry stores.

West Chester Fire Department Knox Box Ordering Instructions

The West Chester Fire Department is now using an electronic submission process for Knox Boxes.

Please follow the directions below:

Go to http://www.knoxbox.com/and click the Login icon link at the top right side of the page.

You will be directed to a page to create an account.

Choose your agency under Pennsylvania in the state drop down menu and select West Chester Fire Dept.

Click on the Buy button at the top of the page and select “Commercial Knoxboxes”. Select your style and “add to cart”.

 

You will then be asked to complete the Installation address form. Once complete click Submit at the bottom of the page.

You will then be directed to your shopping cart to review the information and provide payment information. If all is accurate click the Checkout button to complete your request.

Once submitted, your request will be reviewed, and a confirmation sent to you once approved.
