Reducing Stormwater and Flooding:

  • Direct your rain gutters away from impervious surfaces - such as driveways and sidewalks - instead direct the flow to grassed areas.

  • Install a rain barrel and use the collected water for watering flowers and plants

  • Have a stream or pond on your property? Allow a buffer of native grasses and other vegetation to grow along the edge. This will filter pollutants and protect against erosion.

  • Convert low-lying areas into rain gardens planted with water tolerant plants and bushes that will help reduce runoff.

Recycling Right:

Contamination of the recycling stream is costing towns and municipalities a lot of money. Keep recycling costs down by making sure the items in your bin are recyclable.

Recycle:

  • Clean cardboard,

  • Aluminum beverage cans

  • Glass bottles and jars

  • Cardboard

  • Clean aluminum foil and take out containers

  • Empty aerosol cans

  • Mixed paper (i.e. newspaper, junk mail, office paper, etc.)

  • Plastic containers, bottles, & jugs #1-7 (NO Styrofoam)

  • Steel food and beverage cans

  • Beverage & food cartons (i.e. milk, juice boxes, soup cartons, etc.)

    • **Please be sure NOT to crush these cartons before placing them in your bin**

Not on the list? Keep it out of the bin. Find more information on the Borough recycling program here.
