Mayor Comitta served as a West Chester Borough Council Member from 2006- 2009. While a Councilmember, she served as chair of the Borough Council's Public Safety Committee; chaired the Planning Zoning, Business & Industrial Development (PZBID) Committee, and served on the Council's Parks, Recreation and Environmental Protection Committee, and Finance Committee. She was appointed to the National League of Cities' Leadership Training Council in 2006 and continues to serve on the LTC steering committee. She also serves on the steering committees for the Pennsylvania and National League of Cities' University Community Networks, and is a frequent workshop facilitator.

Comitta is Vice President and CFO of Thomas Comitta Associates, Town Planners and Landscape Architects, serving 50 municipalities for over 35 years, with offices in West Chester Borough and the City of Lancaster. Comitta worked in the Octorara Area School District, Chester County, PA serving as a special and gifted education curriculum specialist and teacher from 1974-1985. Since 1988, she has been a member of the Board of Directors of World Information Transfer, Inc., a non-profit, non-governmental educational organization in General Consultative Status at the United Nations, focused on health and environment.

Mayor Comitta serves on the Dean's Advisory Board of WCU's College of Visual and Performing Arts, is a member of the Board of Directors of the Regional Center for Women in the Arts, and is a member of numerous volunteer community service organizations.

Mayor Comitta received her BS in Education from West Chester State College, 1974, and received her Master of Education from Widener University in 1989.

Mayor Comitta lives with her husband, Tom, across from Everhart Park. They have a son, Tom, and a daughter, Anne, both graduated from college and pursuing careers and graduate studies.
